The festivities will take place on the Downtown Marietta Square from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is free for all and open to the public. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Moonwalks, ethnic foods, entertainment, vendors, music, history, giveaways and more will fill the day.

6th Annual Gobble JogNovember 27, 2008Gobble Jog is a Thanksgiving Day event featuring a 10K Run, 5K Walk/Run, 1K Walk/Run, and the Tot Trot (for kids 5 and under) at the Historic Marietta Square.

The Gobble Jog 10K will be certified as a qualifier for seeding in the Peachtree Road Race and the U.S. 10K Classic.

All proceeds benefit MUST Ministries, a faith-based, non-profit organization ministering to the homeless and hurting in our community.

22nd Annual Art in the ParkAugust 30, 2008 - September 1, 2008Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday 10am-5pm; Monday 10am-5pmThe historic community of Marietta, Georgia invites one and all to experience the 22nd Annual Art in the Park festival, August 30 - September 1, 2008. This fine art extravaganza held each Labor Day weekend is presented by the Marietta Business Association and is proud to be one of the Top 20 Events selected by the Southeast Tourism Society for September.

The juried fine art show will spotlight 130 artists whose works include paintings, photography, pottery, graphics, sculptures, jewelry and much more. Artists representing 16 states will display and sell their wares in Glover Park. Back by popular demand is the Interactive Art Alley full of many wonderful and free make and take art stations, which guest’s young and old can discover the hidden artist within.

Festival hours will be Saturday, August 30 - Monday, September 1, 10:00 - 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, so bring your family or friends to Art in the Park.

97.1 The River Third Annual Wing and Rock EventMay 31, 20081:00 PM - 10:00 PMWing Zone is the official sponsor of the wing-eating contest at the Third Annual "Wing N' Rock Fest" being held rain or shine at Marietta Square in downtown Marietta from 1 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET, with the wing eating contest happening at 5:30 p.m. The "Wing N' Rock Fest" is free admission to the public. The fest brings together chicken wing restaurants and four tribute rock bands that will keep people eating and dancing throughout the day.

Book Fair on the SquareOctober 3, 2008 - October 4, 2008The inaugural Book Fair on the Square October 3-4! Downtown Marietta will be transformed into a literary oasis as your favorite authors, books and characters steal the spotlight during this fun event.

The excitement kicks off Friday night with a special ticketed dinner event with Roy Richard Grinker, author of Unstrange Minds: Unmapping the World of Autism.

On Saturday, adults will enjoy readings and book signings by both veteran authors (including local writer Doug Crandell) and new sensations such as Katharine Noel and Laura Flynn while kids of all ages will have fun at the ‘Parade of Characters,’ storytelling programs, live musical performances and more. Renowned author Rachel Simon will also host two creative writing classes during the afternoon, one for families and one for writers. Plus, enjoy an art show along with food and book vendors in a festive atmosphere.
